The Smoking Whore’s Dope Novel

BEFORE YOU LEAVE: Scroll down for an important announcement related to the topic of this post!

Weed, pot, dope, however you call it, has been in the center of controversy for years now. In the US, marijuana legalization has been gaining momentum, with some states (or even cities) getting on board of this train sooner than others. Some people are in favor, some are against, and untold others simply have no idea what to think. Continue reading

In harmony with the machine.

Posted in Mental Vagaries on January 20, 2016 by Vagabundo DeMente

So this may come as a shock to many, but… I do not know how to drive yet. I know, usually folks learn to drive before they even come of age… and if they haven’t learned by then, they never do (with a few exceptions, I presume.)

“My spirit is a roaring sea”

Posted in Mental Vagaries with tags , on January 4, 2016 by Vagabundo DeMente

Holy Toledo. I’ve been away for over a year.

Okay, not exactly. Every now and then, when a topic comes to me and strikes me as worthy of inspiration, I toss a little blurb into the Drafts folder. Problem is, a lot of them lose relevance as time goes by. And that is my other problem. Time, I don’t have it. I know, I know. Nobody has time, so you make time. Sadly, I wasn’t very good at it, but I hope to improve.

One Year of Hiking and Foraging.

Posted in Blog News, Mental Vagaries on May 23, 2014 by Vagabundo DeMente

It is delightful, although unintended, that this anniversary post comes right after the one entry of mine that broke, nay, shattered, all my personal records for views, likes, comments and rebloggings to date; something I will elaborate on shortly. As it stands, and thanks to WordPress’ handy scheduling tools, when this post comes up it will be exactly one year (with a margin of error of 59 seconds) since Hike and Forage took off with the primordial question Who am I?. And, truly, what a long, strange trip it’s been. Continue reading

The Blogosphere, the Neighborhood

Posted in Internet Wilderness on May 18, 2014 by Vagabundo DeMente

Right off the bat I will clarify that the Neighborhood initiative is (c) thepublicblogger (of whom I will talk more shortly); I’m just leaning on it to elaborate on today’s point. Continue reading

Ever wondered what Cinco de Mayo is really about? No, it’s not Independence Day. Let a thoroughbred Mexican clear that haze for ya. Continue reading

The True Meaning of Alchemy (“The Alchemist” – Paulo Coelho)

Posted in Reviews on January 27, 2014 by Vagabundo DeMente

When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream“. – The Alchemist.

The Alchemist is a book that may easily deceive the casual observer with its small size and its fable-like look. It is a fable, alright, but it goes way deeper than that. And yet, it is something easily missed, if I am to believe some of the reviews I read on Amazon, one of which focused more on the seemingly simple language and ‘humble’ quality than on the meaning between the lines. To me, the book is small because it needs not be larger in order to convey its message. Many messages, in fact. Continue reading
